Today’s photo of the week is of a pair of brown skua/hākoakoa at sunrise on Rangatira/South-East Island in the Chatham Islands.

The Chatham Islands are one of the the main breeding grounds for the native brown skua.

DOC is currently looking for four volunteers to assist on the Chatham Islands with a variety of tasks including native species monitoring, weed control and facility maintenance.

Volunteers will also be able to enjoy the spectacular landscape—surrounded by rugged sea cliffs, white sandy beaches and old volcanic cones.
