Over the next few weeks Frederick Church and Ursula Lambert, DOC Camp Managers, will share some of the conservation campsite gems around Northern Coromandel.

If you head towards Thames, turn left and head north for around 100 kilometres you will find a cute little DOC campground at Fantail Bay. In February last year I took up a post as Camp Manager here.
During the summer this little campground is chock-full with campers, motor-homes and other assorted holidaymakers. During the winter months it is almost empty with only the occasional visitor – great if you like privacy!
What makes this campground so special is not only the fishing but more spectacularly the sunsets. Over the three months I was stationed at Fantail Bay I tried to take a photo every night. Here’s my highlights for you to enjoy!
Wow! Lovely pictures.
Love winter sunsets – get some beauties here on the West Coast.
Great images Frederick and it was nice to meet you yesterday at DOC Whitianga. Regards John
What fantastic photographs these are!
