Photo of the week: Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park

Department of Conservation —  15/06/2016

Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park is a rugged land of ice and rock with glaciers covering over 40% of the park. It is home to 19 peaks over 3,000 metres.

Today’s photo of the week is of New Zealand’s tallest peak, Aoraki/Mount Cook, taken at Mueller Glacier Lake.

DOC is currently reviewing the management plan for Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park and would like to hear from anyone with an interest in the management of the area.

We are particularly interested in hearing from young people, a part of the community that we have not heard from much in the past. Young people aged 15-25 are invited to join workshops in Canterbury to contribute their views.

More information about these workshops can be found on the DOC website.
